Regularly held workshops are available to job seekers who meet basic eligibility. Each workshop is approximately 2-3 hours long and is targeted to a specific employment focused topic.

YOUTH: ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
Interested in working in Customer Service (and let's face it almost every job requires customer service) but don't have much experience? This training will provide you with hands-on customer service and communication tools and techniques. It will help you be a better communicator, allowing you to meet the needs of those you serve. Happy customers mean a happy boss, which means workplace rewards for you. The workshop is endorsed by the Downtown Vernon Association and carries with it a certificate that is highly recognized by industry professionals and employers. In today's labour market you must stand out from other job seekers and this certificate is your means to do just that.

Networking includes activities like going for coffee with an old co-worker, meeting a business owner at a party and even chatting with your neighbor! This workshop will help you recognize networking opportunities, learn about your personal network, and explore the wonderful world of social networking (aka: Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, etc…)
SELF MARKETING
Not a Marketing Major? No problem! This workshop will help you create your own marketing plan and strategy so that employers will take notice of you. The importance of personal appearance, body language and “the 4 P’s” are some of the topics that will be discussed.
USING INTERNET AND EMAIL TO JOB SEARCH
Have you ever “attached” a Word document to your email? Or “uploaded” your resume to an online webpage? No? Then this workshop’s for you! Many job postings are only available online now, and often, employers are requesting resumes be emailed to them. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of how to best use email and the internet to search for work and connect with employers.

Haven’t written a letter since the one you sent to Santa when you were 8? Was your resume last updated when typewriters were in fashion? Even if you answered “no” to those questions, this workshop can help you create an effective resume and cover letter that will give you great results!

Do interviews make you nervous? Are you not sure how to prepare for them? This workshop will tell you for what to do before, during and after the interview so that you can get the job!
